New Approaches to Economic Challenges seminar: Next Production Revolution

Lead author, Alistair Nolan, presented some of the key messages from the recent OECD report “Next Production Revolution: Implications for Governments and Business”.

This article is part of the Forum Network series on Digitalisation

The report examines the opportunities and challenges, for business and government, associated with new and emerging production technologies. These include a variety of digital technologies, industrial biotechnology, 3D printing, new materials and nanotechnology. As these technologies transform the production and the distribution of goods and services, they will have far-reaching consequences for productivity, skills, income distribution, well-being and the environment.

How can governments facilitate the broad adoption of these infrastructures and technologies? What will be the challenges to address? Do you have any other thoughts or good examples to share?
