About Thoraya Obaid

I worked at the United Nations for 35 years, from Lebanon, to Iraq, to Jordan, to Lebanon again and then to New York. My last post was Under-Secretary General/Executive Director, United Nations Population Fund. After retirement as of 1 Jan 2011, I returned to Saudi Arabia and my last two social responsibility assignments were: Chair, Women 20 (Saudi Arabia 2020) followed by being a Member, Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response, led by Co-Chairs, their Excellencies former President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark.
