Global Policy Lead, Worldwide Public Sector, Microsoft Corporation

Andrew Cooke is Global Policy Lead at Microsoft, supporting the Worldwide Public Sector business. In this role, Andrew leads the Global Market Development Policy Team, which is committed to engaging with the world's public sector and regulator community, as they work to ensure they have their policy settings optimized to best take advantage of digital transformation technologies Andrew has been with Microsoft since 2007, initially providing commercial legal support for the Australian and New Zealand operations before moving to Singapore in 2012, to become Microsoft's lead commercial lawyer for the Asia region, later taking on responsibility for leading Microsoft's Asia regional government affairs and public policy team. During his time in Singapore, Andrew helped spearhead Microsoft’s outreach and engagement with Asia’s financial services community and regulators. As part of helping lead Microsoft’s cloud policy outreach in Asia, Andrew engaged with a number of public sector digital government and procurement departments across the region, working with them on their cloud and digital transformation journeys. Andrew started his legal career in 1999, working in private practice in Singapore and London with Herbert Smith Lawyers, specializing in mergers & acquisitions, project finance and private equity advisory work. Andrew moved to in-house legal roles from 2002, specializing in banking and information technology, initially with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (Sydney) then Unisys Corporation (Sydney).
