Mieke Schuurman is Senior Policy Advisor on children’s rights & safeguarding for Eurochild. At Eurochild she is responsible for children’s participation, for which she has developed Eurochild’s internal child participation strategy and child protection policy. She is also advising on European children’s rights issues.

Before joining Eurochild, she has worked as an independent expert in the field of children’s rights and EU law since 2009.  She has carried out assignments for various international organisations and NGOs, including the Council of Europe, European Commission, Eurochild and UNICEF. She has provided advice, carried out research and given trainings on children’s rights. Formerly, she was Secretary-General of the European Children’s Network (EURONET). She has a Master in Law (LLM) and European Studies (MA).
