Joel is considered an authority on offshore investments and asset protection. He lectures around the world and is a prolific writer who has been featured in the U.S. News & World Report and Forbes. In addition, he hosts the Global Wealth Fortress Report, a podcast about asset protection, offshore banking, and current financial issues.

As co-founder of Belizean real estate development company, ECI Development Joel is leading the team as the driving forces behind the new initiative to build a Marriott hotel in Ambergris Caye. Joel has secured and structured investments for at least two other resorts in Latin America and has ample experience in this field. The resorts are designed to boost the local economy while offering American retirees a place to retire and to retain their hard-earned funds.

Joel Nagel is a former ambassador to several European countries including Austria, Croatia and Slovenia, as well as to the United Nations on the behalf of the Belizean government. He is also the backer of the relatively new Belize Academy of the Performing Arts (BAPA), which he helped establish in 2019 with the governor-general.

Every year, Joel partners with the Living Word Church to organize and sponsor annual holiday toy drives for children and families in Belize. He also founded the Rotary Club of San Pedro and is active in many other Latin American philanthropic projects.
