The mission of The Edtech Podcast is to improve the dialogue between ‘ed’ and ‘tech’ for better innovation, through storytelling. Jacques van den Broek is the CEO and Chair of the Executive Board of Randstad, the global leader in HR services industry. After graduating in law, Jacques held a management position with an international trading company until he joined Randstad as a branch manager. Appointments followed as Regional Director in the Netherlands and, subsequently, as Marketing Director Randstad Europe. In 2002, he moved to Capac Inhouse Services as Managing Director, also taking on responsibility for Randstad in Denmark and Switzerland. Denis Machuel became Chief Executive Officer of Sodexo in January 2018. His vision is aligned with that of Sodexo’s founder, Pierre Bellon; growth, intrapreneurship and humanity remain the core principles that guide our company’s future and unite our employees. Denis joined the company in 2007. He was appointed CEO of Sodexo Benefits & Rewards worldwide in 2012. His scope was broadened to include a new cross-functional role, he became Sodexo’s first Chief Digital Officer in 2015. In 2016, he then also took on the additional role of CEO of Personal and Home Services. Denis ensures that Sodexo’s development supports economic growth that is based on the sustainable use of resources and valuing our shared humanity. He is personally invested in Sodexo’s efforts to fight against food waste and combat social and economic inequality. He joined the G7 Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG) coalition in 2019 and is a member of the multistakeholder coalition dedicated to achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal on food waste (Champions 12.3).

Silvana is the President and Founder of Women Political Leaders (WPL), the worldwide network of women Politicians. WPL is an independent, non-partisan and not-for-profit foundation that aims to increase both the number and influence of women in political leadership. Silvana served as Vice-President of the European Parliament (2009-2011) and Member of the European Parliament (2004-2014). Before her time in politics, she founded and ran a public affairs consultancy in Brussels, which later merged with a larger US firm. She also worked as Senior Special Advisor for EY and as Senior Policy Advisor for GPLUS Europe. In addition to her work for WPL, Silvana serves on the board of the Council of Women World Leaders, the network of female Presidents and Prime Ministers. She is also a member of the European Leadership Network (ELN), a Board Director of the Social Progress Imperative and member of the Global Advisory Network of Apolitical Academy Global. Since 2016, Silvana has been representing the European Union in the Executive Committee of W20, an official engagement group of the G20. In 2018 and 2019, she was ranked as one of the 100 most influential persons in gender equality by Apolitical. Silvana is a Young Global Leader Alumni of the World Economic Forum. She lives in Brussels, Belgium with her three kids and their Irish father.

Bradley Schurman is Founder and CEO of The Super Age – a global strategic research and advisory firm helping public and private organizations understand the challenges and harness the opportunities of demographic change, with a focus on population aging. The Super Age works to ensure that these subjects are considered across organizational strategies from human resources, marketing and communication, public policies, and product and service design. Schurman is also the author of the forthcoming book, The Super Age: How Longer Lifespans Are Changing Everything We Know About Work, Life and Learning, which will examine how this shift is driving social and economic change around the world. It will be published by HarperCollins. Prior to launching his company and authoring the book, Schurman was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of EconomyFour, where he led business development in Asia and Europe. He also served at AARP – the world’s largest organization dedicated to improving the lives of older people – where he was Director of Global Partnerships and Engagements. Schurman was instrumental in securing the topics of aging and longevity as focus areas at both the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and World Economic Forum (WEF). He was also responsible for visioning and executing the Aging Readiness and Competitiveness Report – a groundbreaking collaborative research project between AARP and Foreign Policy Group. Schurman has been featured on NBC's TODAY Show and quoted in the New York Times, HuffingtonPost, and USA Today, as well as in local and national media outlets around the world. He speaks regularly at thought leader forums, and has advised national governments and major businesses on their longevity strategies.

Cary Funk is director of science and society research at Pew Research Center, where she leads the Center’s efforts to understand the implications of science for society. The Center studies the social, ethical and policy implications of scientific developments in areas such as climate and energy, emerging issues in genetic engineering, and food and space science. She has authored or co-authored a number of reports focused on public trust in science, scientific experts and science news and information. Funk has broad expertise in public opinion research and has specialized in public understanding of science issues for nearly two decades. Prior to joining Pew Research Center, she directed the Virginia Commonwealth University Life Sciences Surveys, national surveys on science and biotechnology. Funk began her career at CBS News in New York working on preelection polling and analysis of exit polls. She earned a doctorate and a master’s in social psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Born in Belgium, Jacques Vandenschrik obtained a Master’s Degree in Hospital Sciences from Université Libre de Bruxelles. He started his career in Somalia working for the European Development Fund, he worked at a local University Clinic in Belgium, and then he led the HR department of a large industrial group in South Africa. He finally founded his own business specialized in antiseptics. During the 25 years of his stay in South Africa, he was the Honorary Consul of Belgium for the Eastern Cape. In 2007 he turned back to Belgium where he took the helm of a local Food Bank and assumed the Vice-presidency of the Fédération Belge des Banques Alimentaires. In 2015 he became member of the Board of Directors of the European Food Banks Federation (FEBA). Elected in May 2018, he is the current President of FEBA.
