About Dr Roopa Dhatt | Dr Mariam Dahir

Dr Dhatt has worked in global health for over 15 years and is a leading voice in the movement to correct the gender imbalance in global health leadership. She is a practicing Internal Medicine physician and holds faculty appointments as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University. She currently co-chairs the Gender Equal Hub of the World Health Organization's Global Health Workforce Network and is a member of the Task Force on the Lancet's COVID-19 Commission.

Dr Mariam Dahir is a Somali physician, currently pursuing a master’s in health policy, planning and financing at LSE/LSTHM in the UK. She is the co-founder of Women in Global Health Somali Chapter and has led numerous health programs in Somalia working closely with donors and governments, and serving as gender-based violence consultant for the World Health Organization in Somalia. Dr Dahir was named among 50 inspiring women globally by the European Union in 2019, and further in the top 20 women with impact in Africa in 2022.
