About Makito Yurita

Makito YURITA, Ph.D. is a Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute for School Teachers and Staff Development (NITS). Makito's research areas include (1) critical pedagogy for tolerance and social justice with a focus on the political nature of knowledge and knowledge construction; (2) teacher education for the implementation of interdisciplinary teaching/learning; (3) public and education outreach for R&D institutions; and (4) measurement of education outcomes. Makito serves in the board of directors for the Japanese Society for the Study on Teacher Education. Furthermore, when he served as a PR Advisor for Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), he introduced evidence-based decision making for PR planning, and he is currently serving as an Education Advisor for JAXA Space Education Center. He has a Ph.D. in American Studies (interdisciplinary program) from Michigan State University in political philosophy, teacher education and historiography. (makitoyurita@gmail.com).
