About Nicola Hazell
Nicola Hazell is one of Australia's leading voices on diversity in tech and innovation. After more than ten years in media and public affairs across the community sector, politics and television news, Nicola joined startup and innovation group BlueChilli in 2016, to lead the development of a new open innovation program turbocharging female leadership in the startup economy. SheStarts has now invested $1 million in ten female founders; kicked off Australia's first venture-backed accelerator program designed specifically for female-led startups; and launched a documentary web-series to redefine what it means to be a tech entrepreneur. Nicola is an experienced keynote speaker and social policy commentator. Her expertise in 'design for diversity' has seen her speak at a series of local and global events, with a focus on gender and social equality and the power of storytelling in social change. Nicola is also an Advisory Board member for AngelHack's LadyProblems global hackathon series; and a non-executive director of Australian advocacy organisation, The Parenthood.
