World Food Day 2020: Grown, Nourish, Sustain. Together.

Every year on 16 October, we celebrate the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Covid-19 has not only exacerbated the food insecurity that was already part of life for millions of people, but also made it a reality for those thrown into sudden precarity. This year, by honouring the world's #FoodHeroes – the farmers, supply chain employees, retail workers and many others – we can recognise all the people in the food system that help to keep us fed.

On the Forum Network

What kind of policies could help support the world's food systems while coping with the COVID-19 pandemic? What role do global markets have to play stabilising food prices on trading floors? Should the problems in supply chains, and the rules that govern them, have been spotted and corrected before now? And is all of this a chance to make food fairer and more sustainable?

The Forum Network is your space to tell the OECD what you think! If you haven't already, register for free to share your ideas, solutions and stories in the comment sections at the bottom of every page.

Jacques Vandenschrik, President of the European Food Banks Federation, tells us about the essential work food banks are doing to both help those without enough to eat and reduce food waste:

Julia Nielson, Deputy Director of Trade and Agriculture Directorate at the OECD, says that while food systems haven't escaped the affects of the pandemic, we have a chance to rebuild them to be more resilient and sustainable:
